Matt McCarthy

Matt McCarthy took over as Leasing Director after PWL’s long-time leasing director, Dennis Johnson, retired.   With over 17 years of experience in the retail real estate industry, Matt has built a robust career specializing in national, regional, and local tenant leasing.  His expertise spans big box, junior box, ground leases, built-to-suit, and local shop deals.  Throughout his career, Matt has demonstrated exceptional skills in effective negotiations, strategic prospecting, and innovative shopping center merchandising.  He has successfully managed extensive property portfolios, driving NOI through creative leasing strategies and strong collaborative efforts.

Matt's professional journey includes significant roles such as Vice President of Leasing at Sterling Organization and Director of Leasing at DLC Management Corporation, where he managed portfolios of millions of square feet across multiple states.  He has a proven track record of navigating complex tenant workouts, particularly during challenging periods such as the COVID-19 pandemic.  A graduate of Georgia State University, Matt is also an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and a licensed real estate agent in Georgia.  Matt currently resides with his beautiful Black Labrador on Bainbridge Island.
